Speaking during the final Cabinet meeting of 2024 in Warsaw, Tusk said: "Poland must make 2025 a winning year. We are on the right track."
With ambitious plans for economic growth, strengthened security and international leadership, Poland’s government is positioning 2025 as a turning point in the country’s trajectory.
"We are building a great success that all citizens will feel," Tusk asserted.
He stressed the importance of security, particularly in light of Poland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union, which began on January 1.
He highlighted recent incidents in the Baltic Sea—with suspected Russian operations aimed at disrupting key European infrastructure—leading Poland to propose enhanced military oversight in the region through NATO and its Baltic member states.
"We proposed making the Baltic an area of reinforced military control by NATO and neighboring states," Tusk said, adding that the initiative has gained support from international partners.
He pointed to ongoing discussions with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and the prime ministers of Estonia and Finland as evidence of Poland’s growing influence in shaping European security policy.
Tusk promised that Poland’s role as a leader in security policy will extend beyond the region, positioning the country as a key player across the continent.
The prime minister projected that 2025 will solidify Poland’s position as a European leader and serve as an example of successful democratic governance and economic progress.
"Poland will be a place the world speaks of with respect—not only because we defended democracy, but because we are building a significant civilizational success," Tusk said.
He also expressed optimism about positive changes in the Polish economy, saying that 2024 marked the beginning of a turnaround.
Tusk outlined plans to carry out legal and structural reforms during the first half of 2025, setting the stage for "tangible benefits" to be felt by citizens in the latter half of the year.
The prime minister thanked Poles for their patience during a year of challenging reforms, framing them as necessary steps for Poland’s future growth.
He expressed confidence that the country’s achievements in 2025 would strengthen its standing on the international stage.
